The Awareness Facilitators
John has been practicing yoga for 12 years and teaching for 9 years within various yoga studios, in the Greater Sudbury community. He is trained in various styles of Yoga; Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Baptiste Power Yoga, Yin and Meditation, along with certifications in Thai Yoga Massage and is a Reiki Master. He is currently completing his Registered Massage Therapist training at Trillium College, as well as his Heart Math Facilitator certification, with the Heart Math Institute.
His classes combine fluid sequencing, powerful breath-work, energy techniques, a deep understanding of yoga anatomy, and a healthy dose of humor to help students create a deeper connection to their inner world and raise their vibration. John is highly skilled, at bringing students into their present moment awareness.
As an educator and yoga teacher, Nadia leads with spirit, fire and intent, which attributes to a teaching style that is both uplifting and powerful. She is the founder of the Universal School of Yoga, Yoga Alliance 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training, and Uniting Movement.
Her association with yoga began at birth having been raised in a Vedic household. She is extremely passionate about education, personal growth, and discovering the world. Working in the tourism industry for over 18 years, and her experience as a travel writer and yoga retreat leader has given Nadia a deep respect for culture and a dedication to sharing moments of depth and meaning.
Nadia has been leading yoga and business/professional retreats for over 6 years. Her yoga career and travels have taken her through Europe, Asia, Central America, Canada and the United States.
As a writer, and social media strategist, Nadia’s work has been featured in publications such as PEOPLE, Huffington Post, TripAdvisor as well as various Disney online publications. Nadia currently resides in the Greater Sudbury region, with her husband and three children.
Barb was born and raised in Sudbury, and has been practicing yoga for 20 years. A graduate of the CYA-YT 200 and graduate of Laurentian University’s English Literature and Interdisciplinary Humanities program, Barb has a background in education and mental health advocacy/awareness.
With a focus on breathwork, meditation, strong Hatha poses, and the use of props, her classes are designed to leave you feeling calm, confident, and centered. “Props are a game-changer!”
Proudly born and raised in Moose Cree First Nation, Moose Factory Ontario and raised Oji-Cree, Brook took an interest in yoga early on. She moved to Sudbury to complete her post-secondary studies in Chemical Engineering and currently works as an Environmental Laboratory Analyst. "My education helped blossom my environmentalist heart and has helped me see the world as a language of frequencies and vibrations. I'm happy to say that yoga and meditation became a part of my daily routine and am now on my way to become a yoga and meditation instructor. Brooke graduated the 200 Hour Teacher Training with the Universal School of Yoga-YA in 2021 and merges her Indigenous heritage into her teaching style.
Echo Dawn has lived in Sudbury for most of her life. She began practicing yoga 6 years ago and completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 while she travelled around the Eastern World. She took a break from teaching to focus on her family and is now excited to get back into the studio.
Echo is an artist, a new mother, and an entrepreneur. She owns and operates Osadhi Juice--a local cold pressed juice company. She finds inspiration and clarity from being in nature, making connections with others, and creating art. She is passionate about yoga, meditation, breath work, and the transformation that can happen when you give yourself the space to express and tune into the body.
Alyssa was born and raised in Sudbury and has been practicing yoga for almost 10 years. She was first introduced to yoga while completing her post-secondary studies at Ryerson University, and it has remained a regular practice ever since! Alyssa recently completed her 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training at the Universal School of Yoga in 2021. She is eager and excited to share her passion for yoga with others. When not doing yoga, you can find Alyssa traveling, cooking, reading, or spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Madison is a lifelong Sudburian. She is a second-year Psychology BA student with a minor in Indigenous Studies at Laurentian University. She hopes to pursue a career as a Psychologist and assist people in their personal growth. Madison has been practicing yoga for over three years and continues to deepen her practice through her involvement as an Energy Exchanger volunteer. Madison has completed her 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training at the Universal School of Yoga-YA in 2021.
Sherry has been working with clients within personal development for more than a decade and merges her learnings in both yoga and social work, within a human centered approach. Her teachings focus on personal empowerment, mindful movement and present moment awareness. She offers a variety of practical techniques that helps to foster resiliency, build physical and mental strength, increase self awareness and awaken the true self.
Sherry has achieved her post secondary studies with an Honours Diploma in Social Services, Honours, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work Program with Laurentian University, courses in Buddhism with the University of Sudbury, certifications in Yoga Nidra and is currently immersed in a two year, 800 hour intensive training in Yoga Therapy; a certified training with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Yoga Therapy involves the practice of therapeutic yoga modalities such as trauma informed approaches, ayurvedic modalities and best practices in lifestyle management.
Sherry is an experienced yoga teacher with an E-200 hour, CYA and owns and operates A Space to Breathe Inc., located in the downtown core of Greater Sudbury, Ontario. She is passionate about the development, progression and sustainability of both Eastern and Western mind-body practices, in Northeastern Ontario.
